Orle B. Jackson, 86, Rock Island, died Friday, Dec. 27, 2002, at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island.

Graveside services are 9:30 a.m. Monday at National Cemetery, Arsenal Island, with military honors conducted by the American Legion Post 200/569 and VFW Post 1303. The Rev. Ambrose Cunningham will officiate. Family and friends wishing to attend the services should meet by 9 a.m. at Hodgson Funeral Home, Rock Island, for a processional to the cemetery. There is no visitation.

He was born Oct. 5, 1916, in Wells Bridge, N.Y., the son of Orle B. and Carrie M. Knapp Jackson. He married Dorothy Ledford Sept. 3, 1945, in Hannibal, Mo. She died March 28, 1997.

Orle was a World War II veteran having served with the 861st Field Artillery Battalion. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He had been a warehouse manager for Marlin Wholesale Supply, retiring in 1984 after 36 years of service.

Surviving are sister, Grace Clayton, New York; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Dale Blocklinger, Milan, Janice Couch, LeClaire, Iowa, and Lisa Blocklinger, Newport Beach, R.I. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, and sisters, Bessie Lent and Edith Glynis.
