James Boyd, son of Alexander and Elizabeth "Betsy" [Allen] Boyd, was born in the bounds of Hopewell A.R.P. around 1803.

James Boyd was married three times:
Around 1827, he married Miss Francis "Fannie" Agnew; with whom he had the following known children:
Alexander (1828-1865)
William (1830-1862)
Sarah (1832-)
Rev. James Cisero (1833-1902)
Martha E. (1835-1923)
John D. (1839-1909)

After Fannie died in February 1855; James married Miss Mariah Rebeccah McDowell on January 12th 1858. No children were born to this union. Mariah sadly died in October 1860; possible due to severe injuries she received in a fire accident.

In 1861, James married a third time to Miss Jane Ritchie; who had several years earlier immigrated to the area from County Atrium in Ireland. Jane's niece lived with James and Jane.

James Boyd departed this life on July 15th 1877 at the age of 74. He was laid to rest near his parents and wives who preceded him.
