Mrs. Ivy Carver

Mrs. Ivy Carver, 87 of Louisville, formerly of Glasgow, died Sunday at Hardin County Memorial Hospital* after a lenghty illness.  


She is survived by two sons, Schyler Elmore, Illinois and Yancy Elmore, Glasgow; two daughters, Mrs. Nola Pedigo, Glasgow and Mrs. Ola Tolle, Louisville; twenty-nine grandchildren and thirty great-grandchildren.


Funeral services were held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Pleasant Baptist Church under the direction of the A.F. Crowe Funeral Home with burial in the Caney Fork Cemetery.

Clifton called me on 17 Nov 2020 and I asked if he would read off the obituary...Clifton's father was Millard Howard Elmore, the son of Ivy (Carver) and William E Elmore. MR. CANN ELMORE and Miss Ivie Carver, two excellent people of the Roseville country, eloped to Tennessee last Wednesday and were married. The bride is a daughter of Mr. Joel Y. Carver.

"Aunt Evie", as Mom called her. My mother was Sallie Ann Reynolds Hare. Ivy was born to Joel Yancy and Louisa Francis (Britt) Carver in Barren County, Kentucky. She married William Edward Elmore about 1898-1899 and had eight children: Schyler M, Magnolia, William Evans, Thomas Yancey, Alanson, Lonnie Lee (living only to age eleven), Milliard Howard and Lou Ola Edwards. Her husband, William E Elmore died November 9, 1919. Her second marriage was to Lorenzo Dow Carver. He died May 16, 1957 and is buried in Tracy United Methodist Church Cemetery in Barren County, Ky.. Aunt Evie and first husband William are buried in Caney Fork (Baptist) Church Cemetery in Glasgow, Barren County, Ky. Also buried there are some of her children: William Evans, Thomas Yancey, and Lonnie Lee Elmore. Ivy died in Hardin County Memorial Hospital . She was in a nursing home in Munfordville, Hart County, Ky. before she died.
