In addition to his parents, he is survived by the love of his life, his wife, Diane Kalle Hess and his son, Bryor Alan Hess, of Fort Campbell, Ky.; his sister, Christie Hess and nephew, Chad, and his sister, Sarah Hess and nephew, Alex, all of Mineral Wells; maternal grandfather, Bob Cranfield of Palmetto, Fla.; maternal grandmother, Hallie Ocheltree of Ripley; paternal grandmother, Leola Hess of Sandyville, W.Va.; mother and father-in-law, Bob and Bernadette Kalle of Riverview, Fla.; brother-in-law, Christopher Kalle of Tampa, Fla.; sister-in-law, Jennifer Kalle also of Tampa; aunts and uncles, Doug and Brenda Hess of Sandyville, Scott Hess of Sandyville, Bob and Althea Hess of Sandyville, Eddie and Tanya Cranfield of Ripley, Bobby and Tammy Cranfield of Ripley, Boyd and Doreen Cranfield of Ripley, Anna and Robbie Wherry of Ravenswood, Amanda and Roy Steele of Ripley, and Frankie and Michelle Cranfield of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; Bryor's Godparent's, Jennifer Kalle and Jonathan Vick; special people in his life, Dad Mike and Mom Annetta Lambert of Marietta; step-mom, Robin Driggers of Ruskin, Fla.; and many cousins, friends, step-aunts and uncles, and our hero's from 101st Airborne and those serving our country. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Papa Howard Hess
; his aunt, Debbie Hess Cranfield; his step-father, Larry Dowler; and his step-grandmother, Barb Deem Cranfield.

David was serving with the US Army 101st Airbourne in Afganistan when he passed. He died from injuries sustained from a roadside bomb.

He was a 2003 Graduate of Parkersburg South High School
