Mercantile Marine Richard Henry Champion Clemo of SS Treveal drowned as a result of the enemy action of a submarine off Skerries, Ireland on or between 4th and 14th February 1918 leaving wife Matilda "Mattie" Clemo nee Hosken of Cliff Close, Ayr, St Ives, Cornwall. He was the son of Master Mariner William J and Elizabeth Clemo nee Northam.

Richard was laid to rest aged 41 at Penzance Cemetery. He was entitled to be awarded the Mercantile Marine War Medal and following the war his family would have been sent the Memorial Death Plaque of WW1 commemorating all war dead.
