Mrs. Sophronia Dyer, wife of Benjamin Dyer of this village, died Saturday morning very suddenly of paralysis. She was 67 years of age Jan. 28, 1886. Her funeral occurred from her late residence Tuesday of this week, at 2 o'clock p. m., Rev. A. T. Ferguson officiating. Mrs. Dyer was one of the oldest residents of this township. Her father, Giles Scott, came with a part of his family to this township from Rochester, N. Y., in 1830, leaving behind his daughter Mrs. Dyer and his son Chauncy Scott, who came the following year with Eber Sherwood and family. She has ever since resided in this township, a period of 55 years. Mrs. Dyer was married to Gould C. Foster, July 9, 1837. Mr. Foster dying Nov. 11, 1852. She married Mr. Dyer in 1865. Of this Pioneer family, who survive Mrs. Dyer, there yet remain Chauncy Scot, Mrs. Laura Martin, Aaron Scott, Mrs. Wm. H. Mrs. Carter came through the wilderness with her parents when they emigrated here, she being then only four years of age, making her the longest time resident of Allegan county. Foster, and five married daughters, Mesdames Sylvia Alexander, Clara Dyer, Claista Dyer, Charlotte Brundage, and Nora Johnson.
