Glen W. Sanders, 85, of Cherokee, formerly of Newell, died on Friday, Dec. 13, 2002 at Cherokee.

Glen William Sanders was born Jan. 25, 1917, near Sac City. He was the son of Roy J. and Paula (Krohn) Sanders. He attended Varina schools.

On Jan. 6, 1938, Glen married LaVonne M. Larson at Sulphur Springs.

Glen worked in law enforcement as a police officer in Newell, Fonda and Van Meter for more than 40 years.

He is survived by three daughters: Synthia Hanson and her husband Lawrence of Cherokee, Carol Cox and her husband Bill of Sutherland and Julie Bangert and her husband Mike of Blue Eye, Mo.; a son Dale Sanders and his wife, Cathy of Ankeny; six grandchildren: Jay Koth, Ben Sanders and his wife, Alison, Gary Sanders, Chase Cox, Jeremy Bangert and Tammy Bangert Anderson; four great-grandchildren, Joey and Jack Anderson, Kayla Schuster and Peyton Sanders.

Also surviving are two sisters: Leota Porath of Hutchinson, Minn., and Luella Herron of Cherokee; three sisters-in-law: Ruth Sanders and Beulah Sanders both of Benson, Minn., and Darlene Lee of Onawa; many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a great granddaughter, Allison Elisabeth Seehusen; five brothers, Leland, Henry, Vern, Paul and Dean and three sisters, Lela, Jane and Leah.
