Civil War Union Brevet Brigadier General, US Congressman. Served in the Civil War as Colonel and commander of the 110th New York Volunteer Infantry. He was brevetted Brigadier General, US Volunteers on March 13, 1965 for "valuable services during the war". He was elected to represent New York's 22nd District in the United States House of Representatives, serving from 1863 to 1865.
