Funeral services for Winnie Oden, 86, of Blackwell, will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2010, at First United Methodist Church in Blackwell with Rev. Charles Casey, Rev. Aeron Oden and Rev. Marion Oden officiating. Interment will follow at Blackwell Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home of Sweetwater.
A visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2010, at First United Methodist Church in Blackwell.
Oden died Saturday, Oct. 9, 2010, at her residence in Blackwell.
She was born Oct. 7, 1924, in Bells, Grayson County, Tex.
She married Thomas J. Oden Sept. 2, 1943, in Sherman. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Blackwell and had lived in Blackwell since 1946. She attended schools in Bell and graduated from LVN school in Sweetwater. She worked at Simmons Memorial Hospital in Sweetwater from 1956-1971. She was the Director of Nursing for over seven years and helped open the Bronte Nursing Home. Oden also worked at the Bronte Medical Clinic.
Survivors include her husband, T.J. Oden of Blackwell; two daughters, Lana Kay Goodman of Blackwell and Kathy Jackson of Blackwell; three sons, Terry Oden and wife Marilyn of Rifle, Colo., Larry Oden of Blackwell and Joe Dan Oden and wife Jan of Albany; one sister, Elva Pearl Goracke of Bells; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Ron Carlton, Chad Goodman, James Oden, Aaron McConnell, Larry Cis, Welman Bauer and Michael Southard.
