Mamie Belle Sellers Shifflett, of Harrisonburg died Thursday, January 27, 2000, at Sunnyside Retirement Community.

Mrs. Shifflett was born July 13, 1900, and was a daughter of the late Thomas A. and Millie Anne Sellers. She was a member of St. Stephen and the Good Shepherd Episcopal Church at Rocky Bar and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary, and practiced as a midwife. During World War II, she helped organize the Red Cross in Elkton.

She married Robert L. Shifflett in 1914, who died earlier. Survivors include two daughters, Hazel S. Crider of Elkton and Ruby S. McKechnie of Waynesboro; two sons, Noris V. Shifflett of Elkton and Edward T. Shifflett of Baltimore, Md.; 10 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.

Family and friends will be received at the Crider Home in Elkwood at anytime. The graveside service was conducted Sunday. January 30, at Mount Olivet Cemetery in McGaheysville. A memorial service was conducted Sunday by the Revs. Stuart Wood and Paul O’Gorek at St. Stephens and the Good Shepherd Episcopal Church.

The family said In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Stephen and Good Shepherd memorial fund, c/o Nita Rosson, Rt. 4, Elkton 22827; or Sunnyside Presbyterian Health Care, 100 Sunnyside Drive, Suite A., Harrisonburg, 22801. Kyger & Trobaugh Funeral Home in Elkton was in charge of service.
