"The bombartment of Zutphen took place on Saturday afternoon 14 October 1944. Allied aircraft wanted to bomb the Oude IJsselbrug in Zutphen to prevent the supply of troops and weapons for the German occupier towards Arnhem. However, the bombs mainly landed on the nearby city district on the center side of the station. The consequences were devastating.
The death toll rose to over a hundred, as some of the missing were never found"
