HANS CHRISTIAN ANDERSEN, son of Marie and Neils Andersne, was born in Kenosha, Wisconsin on Nov. 25, 1878, the oldest of ten children, and died on Oct. 3, 1950 at Fairbury, Nebraska at the age of 71 years, ten months, and eight days. In infancy he came to Hamilton County, Nebraska. As a young man, he homesteaded in Rock County, Nebraska. He was married to Effie Griffin on August 12, 1912. To them were born three children, Mary Andersen of Steele City, Mrs. Hilda Howe of Beatrice, Nebraska, and Robert Andersen of Steele City. In 1927 the family moved to Steele City which was his home most of the time since. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Steele City.
Mr. Anderson is survived by his wife, two daughters, one son-in-law, Francis Howe of Beatrice, Nebraska; three grandchildren, Roger, Mary and James Howe; two sisters, Mrs. C. S. Sorensen of Brush, Colorado, and Mrs. Severt Christiansen of Wiggins, Colorado; two brothers, Tunis Andersen of Marquette and Otto Andersen of Hampton; and, many nieces and nephews. ~~~ BEATRICE DAILY SUN, Beatrice, NE, Oct. 12, 1950, page 11
