"DEATHS AND FUNERALS: LEE KURNIKER. // Lee KURNIKER, son of J[acob] KURNIKER, of this city, died at Fitzgerald, Ga., yesterday morning. He was fifty years of age and unmarried. // The deceased formerly resided in Columbus, and had many friends here who will regret to learn of his death. Besides his father, he leaves four sisters, Mrs. Herman GANS of Bainbridge, Mrs. Jennie ZACHARIAS, Mrs. H. JULIUS and Miss Annie KURNIKER of this city, and one brother, Henry KURNIKER, of New York. // The body will reach Columbus at 1 o'clock this afternoon and the funeral will take place from the union passenger station. Rabbi ROSENTHAL will conduct the services. The interment will be in Linwood [sic] cemetery, and the following gentlemen will act as pallbearers: Dave BLASCOER, Sam KAUL, Sam KAUFMAN, Joe JULIUS, M. L. BUHLER and David ROTHSCHILD." [Columbus (GA) Enquirer-Sun newspaper, Thursday, 03 SEP 1914, p. 8.]

This grave does not appear in Autry's "Historic Linwood Cemetery" book (3 volumes), nor is it included in the sexton's burial records for Linwood. That is because the location of interment was misreported in the newspaper item cited above.

The sexton's records for Riverdale Cemetery show: Lee KURNIKER, male, died aged 52 years of an unreported cause at Fitzgerald, GA. Buried as a non-resident on 03 SEP 1914 in [Jewish] Section 2, Lot 182.
