Rites Held Sunday at Guide Rock for Raymond Lamb
Funeral services were held Sunday at the Guide Rock Methodist church (sic) for Raymond Lamb who passed away Thursday at the Webster County Community hospital in Red Cloud. He was the father of Mrs. Harold Rose and had been at the Harold Rose home in Blue Hill for several week preceding his death.
Raymond Alfred Lee Lamb was born September 19, 1891, at Broken Bow, Nebr., and departed his this live December 3, 1959, at the age of 69 years, two months and 14 days.
Mr. Lamb grew to young manhood at Cambridge, Miss. In his early twenties he came to Webster county (sic) where he married Miss Leona Richards on April 6, 1912. Seven daughters and four sons were born to them, all of whom survive. They are Mrs. Alma Whitmore of Cuningham, Kansas; Wellington Lamb of Hastings, Raymond and Elwin of Great Bend, Kansas; Kenneth of Ellinwood, Kansas; Mrs. Ruth Lukas of Mound City, Mo., Mrs. Bettie Rose of Blue Hill; Mrs. Ellen Crosley of Garden City, Kansas; Mrs. Joyce Kirkham of Hutchinson, Kansas; Mrs. Donna Wulf of Golden, Colo.; and Mrs. Helen Pingry of Great Bend, Kansas.
For about 37 years the family lived in and around Guide Rock, during most of which time the de ceased was engaged in farming. A few years he was employed by the Farmers Union Elevator at Guide Rock.
Following the death of his wife on September 13, 1948, Mr. Lamb spent some time with his daughters at Blue Hill and Mound City, Mo. In 1952 he went to Larned, Kansas, where he was employed by the Larned State Hospital. He retired from that work last July.
In October he came to spend the winter with his daughter, Mrs. Harold Rose, in Blue Hill. On November 12 he suffered a heart attack after which he was bedfast. On Sunday, Nov. 29, he suffered a second attack and was taken to the Red Cloud hospital where he died four days later.
Besides his children, he is survived by 42 grand children, three great-grandsons, a brother, Floyd Lamb of New York, a half-brother, Ellis Lamb and a half-sister, Mrs. Carrie Kelly, both of Cambridge. Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
