Susan Moorhouse, wife of Eli Moorhouse, died at her home in Lewistown at 2 p.m., November 20, 1892, aged 67 years, 8 months and 29 days. Her maiden name was Susan Shaw, she was born in Carroll county, Ohio, February 22, 1825; was married to Eli Moorhouse October 22, 1846, in the same county. They soon after came to this county, and for nearly half a century have resided on their well known farm in Bernadotte township. She has been a member of the Disciples Church for 52 years and has maintained throughout her long life the good name of a devoted Christian wife and mother and a self denying generous neighbor. It has been her lot in recent years to pass through the deep and black waters of affliction. For long months past she had the constant care of her daughter Lina, who has hung between life and death with a dreadful nervous affliction. Never did a child more need a mother's loving ministrations. Who can measure Lina's grief and despair? Since her mother's death it has seemed impossible that Lina could live. Again and again she has been through dying. There is abundant pity for the poor child, and for Uncle Eli and the other children. It is one of the saddest events in Lewistown's home life.
