Ruben Luna

Ruben Luna, 52, of Boca Raton, Fla., died on Easter Sunday, March 30 at the University of Nebraska Medical Center following a two year illness.
Born Nov. 5, 1944 in Raymondville, Texas to Carlos Sr. and Marie (Perez) Luna, he was a Willard resident from age five until the past few years.
He graduated with athletic honors from Willard High School in 1963 and went on to attend Findlay University on a football scholarship. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1965.
In 1969, after attending barber college, he opened and operated Ruben's Barber shop in Willard with his brother Robert. In 1982 he and his wife, Charlotte, opened Luna's Salon in Willard and ran it until 1992, when they relocated to Boca Raton, Fla. and began CruiseOne, a Cruise Travel Franchise company. To date, the company has grown to be one of the largest cruise retailers in the nation with more than 300 franchise locations nationwide.
Survivors are his wife, Charlotte (Eickhoff) Luna, whom he married in 1984 in Willard; three sons, Jantz Lune, 19, Trevor Luna, 10, and Cameron Luna, 7, all of Florida; his mother, Marie Luna of Willard; three sisters Mary Luna Rodriguez, Hilda Luna Arredando and Becky Luna Hale, all of Willard; five brothers, Carlos Luna Jr. of Plymouth, Nick Luna and Robert Luna of Willard, Steve Luna of Mt. Vernon, and Baldamar Luna of Columbus; and 34 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Carlos Luna Sr.; a nephew Clifford Luna; and a niece, Saharra Luna.
Calling hours will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Secor Funeral Home in Willard.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Christian Alliance Church on US 224 with Rev. Don Gephart officiating.
Burial will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery, Willard.
The family requests memorial contributions be made to the University of Nebraska Medical Center or to the Spanish River Christian Church.
