Alma Smith Shomaker Fox
Mrs. Alma Caroline Shomaker Smith Fox, 80,of Shomaker Road,
Banner Elk, N.C., died Saturday evening, November 15, 2003,
at Life Care Center of Banner Elk.
She was born in Watauga County, February 14, 1917, a daughter
of the late Jack Finley and Mae Dee Holtzclaw Smith.
Mrs. Fox was retired from Bank of America, where she had worked
as a bookkeeper for 30 years. She was a member of Mabel Methodist Church.
Survivors include one son, Phillip Shomaker and wife, Cheryl, of
Banner Elk; one sister, Shirley Jean Redwine of Shailotte, N.C.;
one grandson, Bruce Shomaker of Matthews, VA; two granddaughters,
Monica Hicks and Heather Buchanan, both of Banner Elk; five
great-grandchildren, four nephews and three nieces.
In addition to her parents she was preceded by her first husband,
Homer Shomaker; her second husband, Stewart Fox; four sisters,
Grace Fox, Forrest Smith, Susie Smith and Erin Billings.
Services will be conducted Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at Austin & Barnes Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be the Rev. Kenneth Chivers. Burial will follow in the Mount Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery.
