Troy Lee Kemp, 82, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2010. Memorial service: 11:30 a.m. Monday in Mount Olivet Chapel. Interment: Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation: 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Mount Olivet Funeral Home. Troy was born a twin on June 10, 1928, in Littlefield to Dr. Roy A. and Alcie O. Kemp. He was born a preacher's son; throughout his life Troy was quietly religious. He was devoted to his four children. A real patriarch, he was their rock. He was a true "leader of the band." His favorite smell was that of freshly cut lumber; home building was forever in his blood. Troy also founded and ran Gemini Glass and Mirror Company from 1976-1997. T.R. loved the dice, basketball, his faithful dachshunds, and ooh, those boat years. A man of real integrity, he is our example. He loved life and we loved him. He was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte Kemp; father, Dr. Roy A. Kemp; mother, Alcie Kemp; and twin sister, Joy Browning-Barker. Survivors: Children, Debra Kemp Wilson, Denise Kemp Wells, Paul Kemp, Mark Kemp and their spouses; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother, John R. Kemp; and anybody whose life he touched.
