PFC Hernandez was killed in action in the Dinh Tuong Province of Vietnam in January 1968. Alex Hernandez was born and raised in Findlay, Ohio before moving to Tucson in 1966. He joined the Army in 1967. PFC Hernandez was an infantryman with C Company of 3rd Battalion, 60th Infantry in the 9th Infantry Division and was awarded the Purple Heart.
