MRS. S.H. DUBBERLY PASSES AWAY IN DEATH
Our community was very much shocked to hear of the death of Mrs. MaryAnn Dubberly, the beloved wife of our friend and former citizen, Mr. S.H. Dubberly, which occurred at their home on Dec. 25, 1912, at about 1 o'clock near Screven, Ga. Mrs. Dubberly was born Jan. 6th,1859, and married to Mr. Steven H. Dubberly, March 16th, 1876, and lived in Tattnall county for many years, raised a large family consisting of four sons, Calib, Londas, Virgi and Callie, six daughters, Mrs. Chelcy Anderson, Mrs. Florence Lynn, Mrs. Clara McMamas and others.
She united herself with the Watermelon Creek Baptist Church many years ago and lived a consistent member by precept and example, her life ever being one of beauty.
They moved away from their old Tattnall home in 1911. She had the sad misfortune of losing her daughter, Miss Annie, on Nov. 29th, who was just completing a business education. She never finally recovered the sad shock of her daughters death. Mrs. Dubberly was highly esteemed by those who knew her and will be greatly missed.
Her remains were laid away in Watermelon creek cemetery, Dec. 26th at 1 p.m. after being funeralized by her pastor, Elder O.B. Rustin, of Glennville, Ga.
We tender to the bereaved ones our sympathy. "Gone But Not Forgotten." Sleep on dear sister, sleep on, until He shall call for thee on the resurrection morning. Peace be thy slumber." - O.B. Rustin
MRS. MARY ANN DUBBERLY
Born in Apalachicola, Fla., on January 6, 1859. She was the mother of thirteen children, ten whom are living. She was ever ready to lend a helping hand to all who needed her help. She was a devoted mother and Christian lady, and was a member of the Baptist church at Watermelon. She was always cheerful, looking on the sunny side of life. On Nov. 30th, she attended the burial of her beloved daughter, Annie. She was asked if she wished to keep a lock of Annie's hair, and her reply was, "No, I am satisfied about Annie. I will soon follow her." Strange, but true, she did in less than one month.
We laid her away at the Watermelon church, bring her body from Appling county where she lived. Her death was from Typhoid Fever.
Mrs. Dubberly left to mourn her loss a loving husband, Stephen Dubberly; four sons, Calib, Callie, and Virgil of Glennville, Leanders of Surrency; five daughters, Mrs. Florence Lynn of Glennville, Mrs. Arrie King of Sanford, Fla., Mrs. Clara Mainer of Trudie, Ga., Misses Anna and Ida Dubberly of Surrency, besides hundreds of grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
Her aged mother, Mrs. Jim A. Stanfield of Glennville also survives her. ---Arling Tootle
