Noble Robinette "Nanny" Shoemaker, 95, of 3239 Hermitage Road, Waynesboro, passed away early May 2, 2006, at the residence of her daughter.
She was born Feb. 18, 1911, in Nelson County, the daughter of the late Charles and Bessie Henderson Herron.
She was a homemaker and a member of Oak Hill United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard C. Shoemaker; a brother, Harry H. Herron; two sisters, Pauline Lipscomb and Mable Lightner; two sons-in-law, Gary Wood and William H. Green Jr.; and a grandson, Steven Lee Wood.
Survivors include three daughters, Judy S. Green Deadrick and her husband, James, of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Frances S. Davis and her husband, James S. Sr., of Waynesboro and Mary S. Wood of Waynesboro; three sisters, Virginia Hite of Afton, Russie Baker of Waynesboro and Katie Herron of Waynesboro; five grandchildren, James S. Davis Jr., Kathy D. Ritchie, Sherri W. Mayo, Susan W. Atkinson and Todd Green; and 11 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted at 10 a.m. May 4, 2006, at Augusta Memorial Park, followed by a memorial service at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Funeral Service, with Pastor Greg Mayo officiating. Active pallbearers will be her great-grandchildren, Travis Ritchie, Jeremy Ritchie, Jonathan Mayo, Jonathan Davis, Jim Davis III, Michael "Buddy" Noe, Kayla Green, Hope Mayo and Morgan Clemmer. Honorary pallbearers will be her great-grandchildren, Steven Henry Atkinson, William G. Atkinson Jr.. and Jessie Laura Atkinson.
The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. May 3, 2006, at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Funeral Service.
Family members and friends wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to assemble at the funeral home by 9:15 a.m. to ride in procession to the cemetery.
