MONTICELLO — Paul E. Shaffer, 83, of 65
Lori Lee Drive, Lafayette, died at 12:45 p.m. Thursday in St. Elizabeth Hospital, Lafayette.
Born June 7, 1908, in Carroll County, he
was the son of Albert and Chloe Timmons
Shaffer.
On Dec 25, 1931 he was married to Gladys
Binney, who died Feb. 14, 1976. On Oct. 1,
1977, he was married to Mary E. Scott, who
died April 6, 1980 On April 21, 1984, he
was married to Violet Magee, who survives.
He had resided in Lafayette since 1984,
moving from a farm in the Burnettsville community, where he had resided most of
his life.
A retired farmer, he had also been care-
taker and sexton of Seceder Cemetery in
Carroll County for 20 years.
He was a member of the Burnettsville
Baptist Church and Carroll County Farm
Bureau.
Also surviving are two sons, Charles, Washington, Ill., and William H., Rt. 1 Burnettsville; four daughters, Ruth Ann
Mihall, Grand Haven, Mich., Mary Clawson
Brown, Rt. 4, Delphi, and Jane Ellen Shaffer
and Carol Barr both of Kokomo; one brother, Wayne, Hope; one sister, Viola Nicol,
Idaville; 16 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
One brother and two grandchildren preceded
in death.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday
in Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home, with
the Rev. Margarete Brandenburg officiating. Burial will be in Seceeder Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday
in the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Burnettsville Baptist Church or to a
favorite charity.
