Interment of Dr. Adamantine Johnson Jr., whose death occurred Sunday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Maude Adams at Watson, Mo., was in Edgewood cemetery this morning where his father and mother and other members of the family are buried. Dr. Johnson observed his ninetieth birthday eighteen days before his death. He was a direct descendant of Pocahontas, daughher of the distinguished Indian chief, Powhattan. His mother was a great niece of President Monroe. Born at Brunswick, January 21, 1851, Dr. Johnson was the son of the late Adamantine and Pocahontas Cabell Johnson. His father is remembered here as having been connected with the first national bank in Chillicothe. Dr. Johnson was married in 1871 to Nanie Anderson and a daughter and son were born to this union. Mrs. Johnson died in April of 1875 and later Dr. Johnson was married to Jennie Brainard of Trenton. One son, whose death occurred in 1912 was born to them. Dr. Johnson's last wife also preceded him in death. Dr. Johnson, bother of N.Z. Johnson of this city, practiced medicine for more than forty years at Watson. He was educated at the Washington University medical college in Sr. Louis and began his practice of medicine at Rothville. In June of 1881 he went to Watson to open an office and in his many years there he made a large contribution to the life of the community. For the past several years he had been retired. Dr. Johnson is survived by a son, Cabell Johnson of Milwaukee who cam Monday night for the burial service; a daughter, Mrs. Adams; three grandchildren, five great grandchildren, his brother here and a sister, Miss Susan A. Johnson of Kansas City. Miss Johnson and two nieces, Miss Maude Morrison and Miss Sarah Morrison of Kansas Cit, came for the burial. Pallbearers were Frank Boehner, G.O. Carnahan, Joseph D. Stewart, A.F. Jackel, Roy Moore and Richard Coffman. The Rev. LaVerne L. Rudolph conducted the service. The Rev. Meadows of Hamburg, In. who conducted the service at Watson, also was here.
