Mr. Wilson was a pioneer of the early west having crossed the plains at the age of 16 in Alexander Major's ox train. His contacts with his fellowmen were the only education he knew but they served to impress upon him that truth and honor were attributes of a good man and which tenets he steadfastly kept.
He was dearly beloved by young and old in every community in which he lived and his passing takes another pioneer of the west to his last reward.
He served as U.S. Indian scout in the Indian wars of 1874 to 1881 under the command of General Nelson A. Miles, His record as a scout is in the U.S. History of Wars in the Congressional Library at Washington, D.C.
