Gene C. Jennings, 83, of Beach City was born May 11, 1927 in Gulf Hill, TX and passed away Thursday, October 7, 2010 in a local hospital.

He was U. S. Amy veteran of the Korean War and was a member of Cedar Bayou Grace United Methodist Church and the Dayton Masonic Lodge #825 where he was a Master Mason. He was a 1946 graduate of Robert E. Lee Hugh School and retired from ExxonMobil as a Field Superintendent with 35 years of service.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred C. Jennings and Willie Mae Cooley Jennings; son, Chris Jennings; brothers, Maurice Jennings, Naurice Jennings, and Johnnie Glenn Jennings, Sr.; and sister, Gail Purvis. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Evelyn Jennings and son, Dennis Jennings, both of Beach City; and daughter-in-law, Terri Jennings and grandchildren, Bryan Jennings and Brook Jennings, all of Clear lake City.

His family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Friday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Saturday, October 9, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at Navarre Funeral Home with Rev. Carol Turner officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.

In lieu of usual remembrances, contributions may be made to the Cedar Bayou Grace United Methodist Church New Sanctuary Building Fund, 2714 Ferry Rd., Baytown, TX 77521.
