We don't have many details about the life of Martha A. (R---)Lamb. According to the census records she said her father was born in Georgia and her mother in North Carolina. We believe Martha was born in South Carolina on 21 Sep 1821. She married Isaac K. Lamb sometime before about 1845.
The Lambs moved around in the Southern states after their marriage. Possibly one daughter, Elizabeth, was born in Mississippi in 1846. The other children were: Josephine "Ann" August born 1848 in Alabama; John William born 7 Aug 1851 in Alabama; Martha F "Mattie" born in Feb 1853 in Alabama; Lydia V born in 1859 in Florida; and Oscar D born in Aug 1861 in Texas. From the dates and locations of the births of their children, we know the Lamb family arrive din Texas sometime between 1859 and 1861. Since the family cannot be located in the 1860 census .. they were probably in transit.
In the 1870 Census the family is living in Caldwell, Burleson Co., Texas. The 1880 Census find they have moved to Strawn, Palo Pinto County, Texas.
Martha died in Strawn on 26 Nov 1892 and is buried at the Mt. Marion Cemetery. She was 71 years old.
