Born in Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico, he moved here in 1978 from San Juan. He retired as owner of La Fonda Restaurant and was a member of Incarnation Catholic Church. He was a US Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War.
Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Nyrva; 2 sons, Carlos and Jose (Katie) Zapata; 10 grandchildren: Jessica, Gabriel, Michelle, Caleb, Hailey, Daelyn, Ann Marie, Joshua, Margaret, and John; and a great granddaughter, Lily.
A Mass will be celebrated at 11 AM on Tuesday, October 12, 2010 at Incarnation Catholic Church with interment and military honors following at Florida National Cemetery.
