DEATH OF MRS. MERCY LAND; Died at her Home in Curistville, Early on Saturday Morning.

Mrs. Mercy Land, wife of Lewis Land, of Curtisville, died at 2 o'clock Saturday morning, age 72 years, 5 months and 18 days, of a complication of diseases.

Mrs. Mercy Land, was born in Switzerland County, July 10, 1841, her maiden name being Mercy Dunn. She grew to womanhood in her native county and on August 20, 1861, she was united in marriage to Lewis Land, of the same county. In 1880, they moved to Tipton County and settled at Curtisville, where they have since resided. Her husband was for many years a merchant, postmaster and railroad agent. She was the mother of one child, the wife of B. F. Rich, of Curtisville, who survives her. She is also survived by her husband, granddaughter Della wife of Harry Conley, and four grandchildren.

Several years ago, Mrs. Land united with the Gospel Workers Church, where she was always found faithful to the precepts to which the church was endowed. She was a faithful wife, a good mother and a woman loved by her neighbors. She had been in failing health for some time, and for a week or more before her death, her condition was serious. Her friends did all they could to sustain her, but her abiding faith in the Christian religion was a great aid to her and she did not fear dissolution. She was fully prepared and death was welcome.

The funeral will be held on Monday at 10:30 o'clock, at her late residence, Mrs Hattie Shawhan, of Alexandria, officiating at the funeral. The interment will be at the Windfall cemetery. the following lines have been selected to her memory:
"We feel that God has called His own,
The boon, his love had given,
Although her body slumbers here,
Her soul is at rest in Heaven."
