Charles Raymond Barnett, 78, died at 12:45 a.m. Saturday, December 27, in Thomas Nursing Center. The family home is 806 Floydada Street.

A retired farmer, Mr. Barnett came to the Wellington area in 1947 from Atoka, Oklahoma.

He was born April 10, 1897, in Collin County, but lived much of his life in southeastern Oklahoma.

He was married to Miss Birdie Davis on July 21, 1920 at Madill. She died January 17, 1975.

Funeral services were conducted Sunday, December 28, at 2:30 p.m. in Fundamental Baptist Church. Officiating were the Rev. Steve Dolloff, pastor, and the Rev. John Henry Ward of Carlsbad, New Mexico. Burial was in North Fairview Cemetery by Kelso Funeral Home.

Nephews were pallbearers.

Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Clyde Nelson of Oklahoma City and Mrs. John Speir of Natchitoches, Louisiana; five sons, Raymond Barnett and Johnny Barnett of Amarillo, Donnie Barnett of Bushland, Jackie Barnett of Wellington and Bobby Barnett of Oklahoma City; one sister, Mrs. Lillie Poston of McKinney; one brother, George Barnett of Dallas, 17 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
