Her paternal grandparents were Johann Wilhelm Koch and Henriette Juliane Herold; her maternal grandparents were George Justus Meine and Johanne Wiese. She had a brother and three sisters, named Herman, Bertha, Johanne and Johanne Willhelmine. She was the youngest of the five children. She died at the age of 67 in December 1895 in Austin, Travis, Texas, USA.
