Surviving are his nine children, Harold Dean (Lyndall) of Knoxville, TN, Nancy Jones of Louisville, Charles Burnice (Norma) of Shelbyville, KY, Bobby Clarence (Nancy) of Crestwood, KY, Wanda Harrell of Zenia, OH, David Allen (Sandy) of Mt. Washington, KY, Joseph Daniel (Debbie) of Louisville, Jeanette Cheatham of Louisville, and Edith Karen (Moshen) Maybody of Louisville; a daughter-in-law, Janice Cheatham of College Place, WA; his buddy, Charlie Wimsatt of Louisville; 22 grandchildren; 11 stepgrandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren and one on the way; 25 stepgreat-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; seven stepgreat-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Faye Moore of Springfield.
Mr. Cheatham's family would like to thank Bluegrass Assisted Living in Bardstown, KY, where he had lived the last year and a half, everyone on the fourth floor and emergency room at Suburban Hospital and a special thanks to Janet Fentress, the dietitian for all the cornbread and milk. Everyone at Oaklawn Rehab and a thanks to everyone at Jefferson Place and Dr. Jane Cornett for the loving care, concern and compassion, words of encouragement that you gave our dad in the last days. Also a big thanks to all his friends at Hikes Point McDonald's, American Legion Post 121 (who has been a blessing to him for the last 20 plus years). He has danced his way into the loving arms of his loving Savior and Lord Jesus Christ who will hold him tight so he doesn't fall.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 2, 2012 at the Carey & Son Funeral Home in Springfield with Bro. Larry Brown, pastor of the East Frankfort Baptist Church, officiating. He will be assisted by Ken Ilari. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery at Willisburg, KY. Visitation will be 1-8 p.m. Tuesday. Carey & Son Funeral Home, 216 East Main Street, Springfield, KY, 40069, is in charge of arrangements.
