Lloyd Sly Franklin, 81, of Midland County died at Stratford Village on Sunday, Nov. 23, 1997.
The son of the late Herman and Carrie (Sly) Franklin was born Nov. 12, 1916, in Ingersoll Township, where he was raised and educated, attending Bishop School. He married the former Ruth Josephine Finch on June 2, 1940, in Edenville. Lloyd had worked for General Motors in maintenance, retiring in 1979. He was a member of the UAW Local No. 699 and the Poseyville United Methodist Church. LLoyd enjoyed the outdoors, gardening and camping. Lloyd and Ruth traveled the U.S. and Canada extensively together. He will be remembered most as a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
Lloyd is survived by his wife of 57 years, Ruth Franklin; his daughters, Karen Rose (Frank E.) Miller of West Olive and Marge (Martin) Merz of Charlevoix; his sister, Lois Belle Baker of Midland County; three grandchildren, Herman Miller and Wendi (John) Dunn, all of Austin, Texas, and Todd Merz of Southfield; and one great-grandchild. He was predeceased by his brother, Herman Clare Franklin; and his sisters, Fyllis Franklin and Inez Franklin.
Funeral service for Mr. Franklin will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 26, 1997, from the Wilson Miller Funeral Home, 4210 N. Saginaw Rd., Midland. The Rev. Karen Knight will officiate. Interment will be in Poseyville Cemetery.
