Mrs. Lewis L. Ayers
ELON COLLEGE, N.C. —
Mrs. Mae Bartlett Ayers, 74, wife of Lewis L. Ayers, Rt. 1, Elon College, died In a Burlington hospital at 1:35p.m. Thursday, August 18. Her death came after several
years of falling health and a one-week critical illness.
Born In Grayson County, Va., Mrs. Ayers was a daughter of the late William and Georgia Hill Bartlett.
Surviving, besides her husband, are one daughter, Mrs. Orlene Baldwin, Rt. 1, Graham; five sons, Bryson Ayers, Fader Ayers and Bubby Ayers, all of Burlington; Jesse Ayers, Burlington, N.J., and Clinton Ayers, Rt. 1, Elon College; 13 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one sister, Mrs. Velvie Norman, Reidsville, and three brothers, Otis Bartlett and Bride Bartlett, both of Reidsvllle, and John Bartlett, Baltimore, Md.
The funeral was held at Glen Raven Baptist Church, of which the deceased was a member, Saturday at 11 a.m., with graveside rites at 3 p.m. Saturday in the Newman
Cemetery, Rt. 4, Galax, Va.
Arrangements were handled by Lowe Funeral Home, Bur­lington.
