Lois Marie Barnes, died on April 12, 1988, at the Central Kansas Medical Center in Great Bend.

Lois was born November 16, 1896, in Chicago Illinois. She was the forster daughter of Effie McKinney. Lois has written, "...she kep me, cared for me, and best of all, loved me... I am forever grateful that I had her for my mother."

Lois was brought to Kansas at an early age, living most of her life in Rush Center.

On April 22, 1917, Lois and Virgil L Barnes, were married in Wichita. After 55 years together, she was preceeded in death by her husband. Their son Kenneth also preceded her in death.

Surviving children are son Guy V. Barnes, daughters, Betty M Ping, and Norma L Schwartzkopf. She also leaves her daughter-in-law, Floy Barnes, and son-in-law, Dale Schwartzkopf, nine grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren.

Lois was so proud of her family. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, homemaker, a teacher, and an avid gardener.
