Philip W. Whiting II, 69, died July 13, 2001, at Lake District Hospital in Lakeview.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Veterans Section of I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Lakeview with his son-in-law, the Rev, John Brown officiating. Ousley Osterman Huffstutter Funeral Chapel, Lakeview, is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Whiting was born Aug. 16, 1931, in Massachusetts to Mr. and Mrs. Philip W. Whiting I. He was also raised and educated in Mass-achusetts.
He joined the Coast Guard at an early age, serving from 1948 until being honorably discharged in 1952.
He was a retired bus and ambulance driver, having driven vehicles in California and Arkansas.
Mr. Whiting moved three years ago to Lakeview, where he enjoyed the countryside and camping.
Survivors include his sons, Philip W. Whiting III of Highland, Calif., and Michael Whiting of Seattle; daughter, Sherri Brown of Sheridan, Ark.; and grandchildren, Angie Key of Malvern, Ark., and Jason Brown of Sheridan, Ark.
