L.D. graduated from Sam Houston State University and proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was a retired Sergeant with the Dallas Police Department, and was involved in the investigation of the assassination of President JFK. L.D. was also a Ret. Sergeant Major with the Army Reserve 807th Medical Brigade of 34 years, and in addition retired from both Texas Power & Light and Brinks Security. He always worked at least three jobs, including being a barber and a mechanic. L.D. was a member of First Baptist Church of Fate.
He is survived by his wife: Lillian Montgomery; daughters: Dell Osborn & husband David of Rockwall, TX, and Suzy Smith & husband Thomas of Lewisville, TX; brother: Monty Montgomery & wife Nancy of Mabank, TX; grandsons: Justin Osborn & wife Tammy of Bayfield, CO, Shane Osborn & wife Ashley of Houston, TX, and Tanner Osborn of Waco, TX; and great grandchildren: Hunter and Brooklyn Osborn. L.D. was preceded in death by his parents; and wife of 41 years: Vista Montgomery.
