The News (Frederick, MD) - March 7, 1959

Dr. Arthur Gorman Elgin, who owned and operated a drug store in Poolesville for 42 years before his retirement in 1952, died Friday at Frederick Memorial Hospital, aged 81 years.

Dr. Elgin, a son of the late Charles F. and Helen E. Elgin, was born October 4, 1877 and was a lifelong resident of Poolesville.

He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Mary A. Elgin; three sons, Arthur C., of Chevy Chase; John E., of Rockville, and Charles W., of Poolesville, Five grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Jessie V. Richey and a brother, Edward W. Elgin, both of Poolesville, also survive.

Dr. Elgin was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Episcopal church, Poolesville, where he served as a member of the vestry for many years.

His body is at the William B. Hilton funeral home, Barnesville. Funeral services will be held in St. Peter's church Monday morning at 11 o'clock, with Rev. Carter S. {?} officiating. Interment in Monocacy Cemetery, Beallsville.
