Gea Maria Sogge was the 5th of 12 children born to Nels and Karen Sogge. Gea had very little formal schooling because she stayed home to work and care for her brothers and sisters.
She left the farm in MN when she was 20 years old to be a housekeeper for her brother, Oluf Julien, a homesteader in Edmore, ND.
Gea married Henry Bono and lived on a farm 3 miles south of Edmore. They worked hard and had a good life. Gea was a seamstress for her family and others. She was her grandchildren's first teacher- Karen remembers Grandma Bono reading "Puss in Boots" and other old favorites to her at a very early age.
Gea died of a heart ailment at age 79 in her daughter Alice's (Mrs. Norman Christensen) home in Edmore.
