Mr. John Franklin Creel, age 72 of Joyce, Louisiana passed away Saturday, October 2, 2010 following a lengthy illness. Born August 24, 1938, he served in the National Guard and was retired as a General Foreman in the construction industry. He is predeceased by his parents, Silas L. & Lelwyn (Porter) Creel; wife, Betty Lou (Brand) Creel; son, Mitchell Stacy Creel; grandson, Silas Creel, Jr.
Survivors include his four sons, John D. Creel of Joyce, LA; Silas G. Creel and wife Katherine of Sydney, Australia; Louie "Randy" Creel and wife Kendra of Pine Grove, LA; Matt and wife Stacy Creel of Winnfield; four grand-daughters, Shay, Bethany, Abigial and Maci Creel; four grandsons, Jeremy Thompson, Alex, John, Bradley and Casey Creel; three sisters, Jenna Gates of Winnfield, Sarah Beth Sanders of Joyce and Ruth Gard of Texas; two brothers, Joe Creel of Dodson and Porter Creel of Winnfield.
Friends may visit with the family in the Southern Funeral Home-Winnfield on Thursday from 5 - 8 PM and on Friday from 8:00AM until time of services.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM Friday, October 8, 2010 in the Southern Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Robert Tyler officiating. Interment will follow in the Old Union Cemetery, Joyce, LA, under the direction of Southern Funeral Home.
Serving as pallbearers are, Silas, Randy, Matt, Joe and Porter Creel, Bobby Sanders, Alan Boyett and Tony Sonnier. Honorary pallberers are John, Casey and Bradley Creel and Gary Gard.
