Hall of Fame Major League Baseball Player. Although he didn't play his first full Major League season until age 31, he was one of the most dominant National League pitchers of the 1920s. After a decade in the minors, Vance joined the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1922 and won 187 games for them over the next 11 seasons. He was named MVP in 1924 and pitched a no-hitter in 1925. He ended his career with 2697 innings pitched in 442 games played with 197 wins, 140 loss, 2045 strikeouts and a 3.24 ERA. In 1955, Vance was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame.
