Leonard J. Brown was born in Merna, Nebraska on February 17, 1920. He died at Whidbey General Hospital, July 20 following and extended illness.
Mr. Brown was stationed at Fort Casey in 1941 while serving with the United States Army and moved to the Coupeville area to reside permanently in 1946.
Mr. Brown was employed as a firefighter with civil Service at NAS Whidbey Island, retiring in 1973.
He was a member of the North Whidbey Bowling League and was a past councilman in the town of Coupeville.
Mr. Brown was survived by his wife, Patricia of Coupeville, one daughter, Ms. Betty Brown of Coupeville, three sons, Barry of Coupeville, Joel of Coupeville, and Patrick of Big Lake and one grandson, Matthew. He is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Laura Walker of Broken Bow, Nebraska and Mrs. Mildred Gardner of North Platte, Nebraska. He was preceded in death by one brother, Wayne.
Remembrances may be made to Whidbey General Hospital or a favorite Charity.
At the family's request, there will be no funeral services. Arrangements were under the direction of Burley Funeral Chapel, Oak Harbor.
