Sarah Rust, wife of Jonathan Benton, was the daughter of Nathaniel Rust and Hannah [Burroughs] of Tolland, CT, born there on February 13, 1765 [town record]. The Rust family removed to Alstead, N.H. in 1766; there she married Jonathan Benton of Royalton, VT on October 29, 1791 [town record]. There is no stone marking Sarah's grave next to that of Jonathan's; however, there is a newspaper record announcing her death on March 13, 1848 aged 83 years.
