NORFOLK - B. Nimlouise Abbott, 91, Norfolk, died Thursday, July 31, 2008, at the Golden Living Center.
A celebration of life will be at Johnson-Stonacek Funeral Chapel at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday with private family inurnment at a later date. The Rev. Tim DeFor, Kurt Shaw and Van Hall will officiate.
She was born Feb. 26, 1917, at Sargent to Willard F. Abbott and Margaret Duncan.
She graduated from Sargent High School in 1934. She attended Cottey Junior College for Women at Nevada, Mo., and completed her degree in education from Colorado State College of Education, Greeley, Colo., in 1942. She attended Nebraska Christian College, Norfolk, from 1946-1952, doing some teaching in the Christian Education Department and working in the college library.
She taught school at Norfolk 12 years, Neligh schools 15 years, Sargent schools eight years, Yutan schools five years, Puerto Rico five years. In 1983, she and Christina Stalder went to Puerto Rico where they spent five years teaching and working in Puerto Christian School, Levittown, P.R.
In 1988, she moved to Norfolk. Nim and Christina Stalder shared homes from 1949 until Nim moved into the Golden Living Center last year. She will be remembered as a treasured friend and full of good works.
She was a member of First Christian Church, Norfolk.
She leaves six nieces, two nephews, a good neighborhood, many friends and the children of our neighborhood, special friend Christina Stalder of Norfolk
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, two brothers.
Organist will be Bill Miller.
