Dies at Home Of Son in Woodburn – William Obed Standard (Stanard), oldest son of A.W. and Elizabeth Standard (Stanard), Linn county pioneers of 1852, was born on the farm near Brownsville, February 2, 1858, died at the home of his son, Elmer J., in Woodburn.


He married Mary Dell Bishop, daughter of W.R. and Elizabeth Bishop, in 1877. To this union two sons were born. The family took up residence in Portland in 1889, where he remained until his demise.


He was employed by the Portland Railway Light and Power company for over 40 years. His first wife died in 1915, and seven years later Standard (Stanard) was united in marriage to Lillian Allen, who survives him.


He was a member of the Central Presbyterian church, Portland, for many years.


Besides his widow the surviving relatives are his two sons, Elmer J., Woodburn and Mason E., Portland; a brother, Frank C. Standard (Stanard), Ocean Lake; three grandchildren, Florence Wehlitz, Compton, Calif., William Russell Standard (Stanard) and Kelly J. Standard (Stanard), both of Salem; four great grandchildren and many nephews and nieces.


The body is being taken to Portland by the Ringo Funeral service, and the funeral will be held Monday, 2:30 p.m., at the Holman-Lutz funeral home. Interment is to be in Lone Fir cemetery, Portland.
