Dwight John Corkery,73, died Friday, April 11, 1997, in Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, following a long illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday, St. John's Catholic Church, Independence. Burial: church cemetery. Friends may call after 7 tonight or anytime Sunday at White Funeral Home, Independence, where a parish rosary will begin at 3 p.m. and a vigil service at 7 p.m. Sunday.

Survivors include his wife, Gladys; eight sons, Steve, Dan and Dave, all of Rowley, Rick, Craig, Dennis and Gary, all of Independence, and Robert of Brandon; six daughters, Cathy Struchen of Toddville, Pat Offerman of Lamont, Mary Gallagher of Cedar Rapids, Linda Hayward of Independence, Janette Hopkins of Brandon, and Michelle Tilley of Goodlettsville, Tenn.; a brother, Leland of Rowley; and a sister, Leone Harms of Waterloo.
