In August 1938, Guy was married to Lola Howard of Lincoln. To this union two children, Dolores Faye and Ronald Ray, were born. Guy had been an auto mechanic; running a garage in Lincoln and at Brookville; and he drove an oil delivery truck during the years he lived in Salina. He also worked as a mill wright in Hutchinson until his brother died, at which time he bought the family well-drilling business, drilling many wells in the Beverly area. He then became an accredited welder and was employed in this capacity until ill health forced his retirement in January 1980.
Guy was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, two sisters and two grandchildren. He is survived by one daughter, Dolores Faye James, Quartzville, Arizona; one son, Roland Ray, Seneca, Missouri; one brother, William D. (Bill) of Tescott; two sisters, Pauline Weis, Braymer, Missouri and Twila Kissick, Westfall; four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
He was a loving father and brother, and will be remembered for his good humor, even during years of foot surgery and long convalescence. He was a lover of music and played in many country and western bands over the years. Graveside services were held April 25 at the Hammer Cemetery near Westfall.
