"Man Who Cast Vote for Lincoln Dies; Rites Wednesday
Dr. Solomon Lombard Stuart, who retired from dentistry in 1915 after practicing the profession here for 37 years, died at his home 2014 Channel drive, shortly before midnight Sunday. exactly one month before he was to reach the age of 97 years.
A union veteran of the Civil war, the doctor was seriously wounded in that struggle, but recovered to live a long and active life here. He cast his first presidential vote for Abraham Lincoln in 1861; last week he voted in the general election here. He was born in Bridgeport, Maine, in 1837.
Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 from the Community church with Rev. Fisk of Hollywood, Rev C. M. Walderwood of Ventura, and Rev Wade Hamilton, retired, of Carpinteria officiating. The J.E. Barker funeral home is in charge of services."
