Mrs. Millie S. Thurman, a resident of Elm Haven Nursing Home for the past five years, passed away Tuesday at 6:30 a.m. after an illness of about 12 days.

Mrs. Thurman was born 26 Apr 1865, the daughter of Henry and Sophia Hopkins Reed. She was married 30 Sep 1885 in Galesburg to Charles M. Thurman and he preceded her in death on 8 Nov 1917. A son Lloyd died in September of this year.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Alma Clark of Elmwood and Mrs. Orrel Bacon of Dyer, Indiana, who has been an invalid for five years; 11 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

At the age of 16 she came to Illinois and spent the remainder of her life in the Elmwood and Yates City communities. She made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Clark, for a number of years prior to entering Elm Haven.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1:00 p.m. from the Yates City Methodist Church with the Rev. David Ericson of the Elmwood Methodist Church and Rev. Robert Ward of the Yates City Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in the Yates City cemetery. Visitation will be Friday afternoon and evening at the Patterson Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Mrs. Millie S. Thurman were held Saturday, November 24 at 1:00 p.m. from the Methodist Church in Yates city with Rev. David Ericson of the Elmwood Methodist Church officiating, assisted by Rev. Robert Ward of the Yates City Church. Russell Remmele accompanied Glenn Bowman while he sane "In the Garden" and "God Will Take Care of You." Pallbearers were Glen Rogers, Ike Tompkins, Ernest Sprout, Earl Rogers, Herman Bowhay and George Eldert. Burial was in the Yates City cemetery
