"An Old Resident Gone. Mrs. E. A. Bird died at her home in Dillon yesterday afternoon, aged 58 years. The funeral will be held from the Dillon M. E. Church tomorrow afternoon the Rev. Campbell officiating and the interment will be in the Ashton cemetery near that city.
The deceased is survived by the husband, two sons and four daughters, all of whom were at her bedside in her last moments. Mrs Bird was born in Illinois {sic} and came to Kansas, locating about three miles southwest of Dillon in 1873. The family resided on the farm until about three years ago when it moved to Dillon.
Mrs. Bird was a lady of amiable disposition and possessing a kindly interest in all about her; a food neighbor and a helpful friend. She was an earnest Christian and her life was a light in the home and a benefit to all who knew her."
