Eli Zehr, 83, of Remington, died at his home Sunday at 11:30 a.m. following an illness of several years.
Born in Joplin, Missouri on August 12, 1887, he was the son of John and Martha (Farney) Zehr. He was married on January 21, 1959, in Kentland to Mabel Cornwell.
A resident of the Remington area since 1902, he was a retired farmer.
He was a member of the Remington Methodist Church, Remington Masonic Lodge and the Scottish Rite.
Surviving with the widow are a son, Donald, of Columbus, Ohio, three daughters, Mrs. Tom Dayken of Remington, Mrs. Ruby Kobel of Elgin, Illinois, and Mrs. Mary Troxel of New Haven, Indiana, five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held from Rushton-Smith Funeral Home in Remington Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. (EST) with the Rev. Milton Persons officiating. Interment will be in Remington Cemetery. Masonic services will be held Tuesday at 8:00 p.m. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2:00-5:00 and 7:00-9:00 p.m. (EST) Tuesday.
